Quick Boerewors Tomato-Onion Relish Wraps

Quick & Easy

Pan-seared boerewors with a fast tomato-onion relish, rolled into warm wraps.

Why smarter

Prep 4 min (slice onion, dice tomato, cut sausage), heat pan 1 min, cook sausage 10–12 min, cook relish 3–4 min, warm wraps and assemble 1–2 min = 18 min total.

Chef tip

If the pan looks dry, add a small splash of water to help the onions soften and lift the browned bits into the relish. Shortcut: Use store-bought wraps; boerewors is pre-seasoned sausage (no marinade needed).

Ingredients

# Ingredient Text Amount Unit Ingredient Name Notes
1 300 g boerewors sausage 300.000 g boerewors sausage
2 1 onion 1.000 onion
3 2 tomato 2.000 tomato
4 4 wheat wraps 4.000 wheat wraps

Method

  1. Slice onion thinly and dice tomato. Cut boerewors into 8–10 cm lengths for easy turning.
  2. Heat a large skillet over medium-high. Add boerewors and cook 10–12 minutes, turning, until browned and cooked through.
  3. Push sausage to one side. Add onion to the pan and cook 2–3 minutes in the drippings until softened.
  4. Stir in tomato and cook 1–2 minutes until just warmed and saucy. Season with salt and pepper if needed.
  5. Warm wraps briefly in a dry pan or microwave. Fill with boerewors and the tomato-onion relish, roll up, and serve.
